Say i take my birth control pills each morning in a pattern similar to this: first morning at 10, second at 11, third at 9:50, fourth at 12, fifth at 10:15. Is this considered "around the same time everyday"? Because this is similar to the way i have taken them the past couple days (i have just started), and i was wondering if a couple hours difference doesnt count as "around the same time everyday".

ok, so i've heard some people's comments and now i have another question... I am only on my 6th pill today, if from today on i take my pills everyday at the same time will they start to work better this month, or is the whole pack basically a waste now? and can you change the time you take them half way through a pack?

You should try to get the timing a little closer to the same hour every day. If taking it in the morning is a problem, try changing it to later in the day. If remembering is a problem, set the alarm on your cell phone or a wristwatch to remind you.

I take my pill every day at 6PM because I work a rotating shift. I know that whether I am on night shift, day shift or my day off, I will always be awake at that time to take my pill.

While it's okay to 'vary' the time occasionally, that 'around the same time every day means 'within a 15 minute time frame' not the nearly 3 hours you've been taking your pills. You need to take them 'as soon as you get up' and DO TRY to 'get up' at the same time every morning ... you will be healthier for it, and your 'birth control' will actually 'work' ... which it may not because of your 'widely varied times' so far ... so USE A CONDOM if you have sex, and start 'doing it right' now so NEXT MONTH it WILL WORK!

When they say "around the same time everyday," they mean within an hour or so of the original time. If you deviate too much, the reliability of the pill against pregnancy can decrease.

You're better off taking the pill at a time of day where you can take it consistently, even if it's in the evening. It doesn't have to be in the morning. Set an alarm on your cell phone to remind you to take it!

The time is supposed to be within a half hour each day to be most effective. You can't take them a couple of hours late or early and expect your birth control to be as effective as it could be.

If you can't remember to take a pill, try NuvaRing.

Two hours is too much. An hour or half-hour would be preferable.
I fyou have a lot of trouble remembering, consider switching to the Ortho Evra patch - you only have to put it on once a week.

Yes, a time window of a couple of hours is close enough.
