It comes from back when people paid using bunches of different produce and they would "thank" people with a "bunch" of something like wheat or whatever.

I believe that refers to the amount of appreciation that is being shown. I always visualized a bunch of flowers, too...you know how you give a "bunch" of flowers to someone in appreciation of something.....so....thanks, a bunch.

A "bunch" is just an amount....it's more than a smidgen, but far less than a bate and less than 1% of a boatload!

A bunch is a distinct measurement of quantity, different from a few, or a lot.
More than plain thanks, not as much as thank you very much.
Cheers!

i dont know, how can you measure "thanks"? i think ppl should use kissing as a way of expressing gratitude, a big juicy french kiss represent a bunch and a kiss on the cheek represent a regular thanks. but bewear! you dont want to help out william hung. tat is just wrong.

I think they are referring to a natural cluster of grapes.... Although why they'd be thanking you with that, I'm not so sure. Maybe its subliminal advertising for California wines..... Really makes you think!
