My son slept through the night from the beginning until about 5 months old then the teething kicked in and was just painful for him. After that we were lucky if he slept 4 hours at a time! It was tiring but now at 13 months he's sleeping 12 hours for us and has been for 11 months, since the teething has calmed down. We are awaiting the molars to poke through to stir things up since he has 8 teeth already, they are up next and so far so good for sleep:-)

My son started at 2 months, but he was eating more than most babies do, he's also on the larger size, not fat, just a big baby. But about a week ago, he started sleeping in his crib and waking up several times a night. Some other babies I know still don't sleep through the night. Not all babies do the same.

First of all, you need to realize that sleeping through the night as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics is sleeping through a 6 hour stretch without food. With that said, my son has slept though the night since he was born. However he's gradually gone for longer stretches as time has gone on. Now he's 4 months old and usually sleeps from about 830 at night until about 6am.

My son was 2-1/2 weeks when he started sleeping through the night. I put him in his own bed within a week of bringing him home, and boom...he's go sown at 10pm...wake up at 7am...nurse and go back to sleep for another coupld of hours. I was one lucky Mother. People hate me when I tell them that.

I had to switch my daughter from breastmilk to formula at around 6 weeks. That first day on formula was the first time she slept through the night, and has every night since then (shes 8 months now)
