My labor was cut in half. My first vaginal delivery was 21 hours and I pushed for 30 minutes. My second was only 10 hours and I pushed for 20 minutes.

My second birth was certainly faster and with alot less pushing (no real transition phase either which was good), but I must say it hurt alittle more. I think this is because with my first, I was in labour for about 12 hours and had produced alot of endorphins by that stage. With the second birth the labour was only about 5 hours and so far fewer endorphins, so the actual delivery seemed to hurt more.

I must say though that each birth is different for each woman, so it's hard to generalise.

I trust all goes well and yes you should expect a shorter labour.

Well...obviously it is different for everyone but my second birth was a breeze compared to my first. My first lasted 14 hours, my very large son got stuck inside me and I had to be cut and my son sucked out with vacuum extraction. I lost a lot of blood and had countless stitches. With my second I had a different husband so my son was smaller...my labour was over in 4 hrs 45 minutes and he just popped out with no trouble at all. My third was even faster and easier. She only took 3 and a half hours. With the first I stayed in hospital for 4 days and with the second 2 I was out the same day and driving 330 kms back home to my hometown (we weren't allowed to give birth there so had to go to the next town and wait for 2 weeks prior to our due date which was annoying and I just wanted to get home!)

Thinking about it...my first labour started off very slowly, hardly any pain and progressed over the day plus he was 10 days late whereas the second 2 I just started off with very strong contractions very close together and they were both a few days before their dues dates.

I am currently pregnant again and hoping for an even quicker and easier birth this time but I know it isn't guaranteed. At least I live in the city now and can stay at home until I am in labour instead of having to go away again.

Good luck to you!

Medically speaking generally they say that the second birth is cut in half time wise. I think this depends on how big the baby is, how he/she is positioned in the womb, and things like that. Course they also say that the second baby is bigger than the first.
It was true for me. My first was almost 13 hours begenning to end, 6 lb. 14oz. my second was almost 7 hours, 7 lbs. 12 oz and my third was 5 min. from begenning to end..4 lbs.11oz.
I had an emergency c-section with her. hehe.I guess she doesn't count.
Anyway, I think it really depends on the baby. Hope all goes well this last 4 months.

My second was by far the easiest, but then again, he was also my only boy. It was WAY faster less than 4 hours from the first twinge of the first contraction to holding him in my arms. I didn't even have a tear. As for my 1st 3rd and 4th(all girls) they dragged on for hours even days and was excruciating pain.

My first was 24 hours my secone was 12 hours my third was 3 hours. Shorter time the pain was the same that surely did not cut in half. But so worth it.

My second was very quick for me. However he was born only 15 months after my first child.

My third son, 5 years later was my hardest and longest labour and birth out of all three of them. I am due in a couple of weeks with my 4th and I hope to god that it is easier than my last!!!!

Half the time and half the pushes, lol Yes second was better all the way around. My doctor was visibly shocked when I was sitting in a chair the next morning.

For me: 1st labor: 4 hours, 2 pushes 2nd labor: 3 hours, 1 1/2 pushes
For my mom: 1st labor: 6 hours 2nd labor (me) 36 hours

Like everything else, everyone & every pregnancy is different.

Ive got just under 4 months til my third. My second was so much easier there are not words to describe the difference!! You are more relaxed because you know what to expect, less apprehensive so things tend to go quicker. Also, we are older and more sure of ourselves as women and what we want from labor during our second deliveries which makes it much easier.
