when i put it into drive it will go but as soon as i give it some gas it sounds like it is gunna die then just about dose when all of a sudden it just goes.

yeah you have a bad accelerator pump, that carb needs to be rebuilt. but the answer is, where the throttle linkage hooks up there is a screw on the side of the carb, you can turn it in to bring up the idle

You didn't say what size motor you have but likely it is the 5.0L with a Rochester carb, 2 or 4 barrel is another question. I say the most likely cause is the accelerator pump but it may be a vacuum leak or fuel pump or filter problem.

I WOULD SAY THAT YOU HAVE A BAD ACCELERATOR PUMP ASSEMBLY.
JUST HAVE THE COMPLETE CARB OVERHAULED.
