went under my car and damage the transmission pan and toyota said it would cost $250 to replace the pan. Does anyone know if you can file a claim with the city to pay for the repairs. This really did SUCK.

Sorry about your luck. I think that's one of the reasons they recommend that you leave so much space between you and the car ahead.

Anyway, YES you usually can file a claim with the city for the cost of your repair. It gets pretty boring working in the city claim office, and claims like this present staffers with a rare opportunity to get in a few laughs for the day.

We used to make paper airplanes out of them and have contests seeing whose would fly the furthest.

well good luck with any claim you file. get a used pan from a junk yard and put it on yourself. maybe 50 bucks depending on the price of the used pan

I think you got lucky. 250 is not bad, I once hit some trash on the road and ripped out my whole transmission. By trash, I mean a large rock.

only if you saw it fall from a city truck and have the id or plate number.... but i doubt that is the case.. just a bad deal if your insurance deductible is more than the repair..

Claim on your own insurance.
