Miranda and Joe really had eyes for each other. They didn't see each other that often, but on those occasions, real chemistry was there.
Joe was Miranda's lawyer. Miranda had some difficult legal issues to handle, and Joe had been of real help to her many times.
One time when Miranda was in Joe's office he made a feeble attempt to let Miranda know he was more interested in her as a good friend than as his long time client. He reached for her hand, across his desk.
Miranda was breathless......'does he truly like me in that way?" was her thinking. Miranda left her hand in Joe's for a minute. Then Joe withdrew his hand.......and remembered the many obstacles in his path which would hinder such a warm relationship with Miranda.
Miranda, unaware of Joe's turmoil, had a turmoil in her own heart.....thinking of the impossibilities of her even wishing for a relationship with Joe. Yes, she liked him a lot, but..............

He was married, did she want to go there again, Well he did say , that he was separated, does that mean there's hope. Oh my mind is racing, should I or should I not. At the next visit, her heart was flittering away, and before they began there session, Joe said I really like you, and I do know it might not be ethical, but I would like to start over, Will you have dinner with me tonight. Miranda trying not to look too eager, checked her calendar, and shyly said that would be a yes. During dinner they talk and talk, as if this was something they did all the time, Joe explained to her, how much he would like to keep seeing her but, if she agreed, she would have to know his wife, was a cruel, evil women who refuses to divorce him ,but if she did agree to keep seeing each other he promises he will always be there for her.

humm, I think you should write it as: she puts her hand back to the desk, But instead, she reaches under the desk and gives 'it' a little squeeze ! That'll at least fill up a couple of pages while you decide which direction to take your characters, Miranda and Joe next. Chances are Miranda and Joe will end up spending the night together and she'll end up having to rehire another lawyer anyway

again she was able to overcome her reserve and threw herself across the desk. Joel used his superior legal skills to help Miranda wring every penny out of Joe before he and Miranda elope to the Caribbean where Joel eventually has her bumped off by a Cuban ex-mercenary. A week later Joel learns he is HIV positive.
