I have a bank account but it will take a few days to clear. Don't want to pay a check cashing place 5%. Any other alternatives?
And its a tax free annuity payment.

Nope.
Anything over $5,000 usually takes 2-3 business days to process. That's a lot of dough to hand out if the check "bounces"

Besides the band members asking people to donate (you can also give donation forms to your parents, friends, and other family members) and help fund the trip, you can have car washes and bake sales. But before going ahead with this, find out from your school (particularly the SGA) what funraising activities are allowed on school grounds. If the band is really great, you can come up with a presentation of the band's achievements over the years and the kind of reputation your school's band has in the community, ie. being well-known and performing in major events, etc.

From what I've read it might be good for your situation. loanbyphone, I believe, deposits the money into your acount the next business day. Then you can pay it of whenever you get that money from the check deposit.

I doubt any bank will cash it until it clears, which could take up to four days. The amount is to large.

A few days IS quickly. Before everything went electronic, you would be looking at a few WEEKS.
