Wow there is some extreme racism going on here against Africans (being African and all the whole primitive monkey joke is really offensive). No race of humans are more "primitive" than another. The "english Monkey's" proper name is the Uakari. I'm not sure where the name "English Monkey" came from but it may be a term the Native people used for the monkey (obviously they said that in a different language). The monkey looked peculiar because it had a bald red face while other monkeys faces maybe hairier and less brightly colored. Uakari are very elusive and secluded you may have mistaken this behavior for "reserved english manner". In truth there is no such things as different races of monkey. Monkeys never lived in Europe. Monkeys are primates, descended from the early mammals. Millions of years ago, monkeys began spreading across warm areas of Afro-Eurasia. Today, they will everywhere from the islands of the western Pacific to Africa.
