I am going to college in a week or so, and I am having trouble making a decision! I received a scholarship to Wellesley College near Boston, but I live about 3,000 miles away from there! I don't know a soul in Boston or any where near there, for that matter. Should I go to that school because of its prestige? Now here is the problem. I have also recieved a scholarship to a college closer to home. Maybe about 200 miles away. This school is an arts school, and I am hoping to learn animation. Wellesley is not an arts school. . .Should I stay home (keep my family happy) or go because attending Wellesley would be an honor? I received full-scholarships to both.

Go with the one that truly interests you. Going to a school just because it is prestigous won't necessarily get you to where you want to be in life. It is more important to go with something that is going to make you happy and keep you interested. Having family and friends nearby can also be a big plus during your first year while you get your feet on the ground, but it shouldn't be your deciding factor. Look at both the schools and see which one has more things you like. A pros and cons list may seem a little dumb, but it can really help you see what you need to do. If you can tour the campuses, that can also be a big help. Look at cost of living and what you can truly afford. Scholarships may cover tuition, but they don't cover the stuff you need to live. Good luck!

Wellesley has an excellent reputation. You'll get a great education there. But they may not have anything on animation. Do you want to do animation as a career? You'll probably grow and learn more if you go to Wellesley.
