I'm the youngest so I can only base this off myself.

I have an older brother and I see the mistakes he made and didn't make them because I knew the outcome.

Now comparing us-
he's almost 22 and has a 3 year old son. I'm 20, child free.
He works a job he hates, I do too
he doesn't have grade 12, I'm a straight A college student .
he lives with our parents, I live in a different province.

He's made more mistakes than me but I've made a lot of mistakes myself, I learned from his experiences and the ones I didn't like I skipped.
The youngest does get more attention in most cases HOWEVER I was ALWAYS judged based off my brother and a lot of the time people underestimated me or judged me completely or just didn't give me a chance.

So both have be positive, but both can be negative. Depends which one you are that can give your opinion.

note: I agree with the photo albums! My parents had tonnes of undeveloped pictures of me, by the time they finally remembered to take them in, the film had gone bad. I do have a bunch of photos still from grandparents though, however from my parents it's more limited. it doesn't mean they favoured my brother, they just were really busy with 2 children and some things got over looked and unfortunately my photos were one.

Even though I'm the oldest, from my observations I have concluded that it's best to be the oldest in the family. I mean, the oldest is the only one in the family that has to figure out almost everything themselves, which just makes them seem smarter. With the youngest children, they end up asking a million questions and everybody spoonfeeds the info to them, and they don't learn anything, or figure anything out on their own. I love being the oldest! Funny story, I've been out of town nannying for about a month and a half, and whenever I come home it's like my sisters get more retarded by the second. I feel like I have to stay here to whip them back into shape and keep them smart!

I am the youngest. Sometimes I really enjoy that fact. Other times I remember that my older siblings wouldn't play with me because I was annoying and just not cool enough. I got all the hand me downs in the family, never the new stuff. I got blamed for a lot of crap. On the other hand, sometimes my parents were a bit more lenient especially in my teenage years. Now they both treat me so well to make up for how they treated me as a kid. I suppose there is probably a syndrome for any station held as siblings. All I know is being youngest so I'll say it's the best....I did have a chance to learn from their mistakes and get away with more on the same token.

Well, I am the youngest of three kids on my family. I was the oops child with my brother being 15 years older than me and my sister 12 years older than me. Being the youngest I do get away with a lot more than my brother and sister did and it also helps that they have been moved out for quite a few years. Being the youngest also has some faulters because I live somewhat in the shadows of what my brother and sister both did in high school. They werent the best of kids. Now that I am in high school my mom keeps the leash tighter because she knows what damage my brother and sister did. For instance; my sister had her first real boyfriend at the age of 16 so i had to wait to be 16 to date. My brother was also caught at a drinking party so my parents look more carefully as to where I go. So I dont know. I think each equals out.

I'm the oldest and I hate it. Too much responsibility. I missed out on a lot because I had to be home right after school to watch my younger brothers and sisters until my mom got off work. That meant no after school programs, sports, or anything. I had to schedule my weekends around my parents plans because if they were leaving, that meant I was responsible for the kids. It sucked. and now that my younger siblings are old enough to watch themselves, they basically can leave and stay with friends and stay after school and join clubs and everything, which are things I NEVER was able to do. Being the youngest seems like it would be a privilege to me.
Also, by the time my mom got done raising me and go tme outta the house, she seemed like she didnt want to waste time arguing over things with my sisters that she argued with me over, so she just lets them do it. I got grounded for anything lower than a B. Now the younger ones pull C's and D's and mom does nothing.

I'd rather be the oldest, im the youngest and its the worse to be the youngest. It's better to be the oldest, because then the younger ones look up to you, and admire you. They personally like you more.

Cya ! ! ! :)

I'm the oldest but i usually dislike begin the oldest. i think it would be better to be the youngest then you get to learn from all your older siblings mistakes instead of being the one making all the stupid mistakes! don't get me wrong some times being the oldest is great.
