A Harvard political scientist finds that diversity hurts civic life. What happens when a liberal scholar unearths an inconvenient truth?
August 5, 2007
IT HAS BECOME increasingly popular to speak of racial and ethnic diversity as a civic strength. From multicultural festivals to pronouncements from political leaders, the message is the same: our differences make us stronger.
But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings
"The extent of the effect is shocking," says Scott Page, a University of Michigan political scientist.
"We can't ignore the findings," says Ali Noorani, executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition

Yet another Leftist sacred cow has been dispatched, it appears. "Diversity" has been exposed for the fraud that it is.

LOL, it's funny how I'm a "racist" all of a sudden simply for highlighting a scientific study!
I guess the Harvard LIB who authored the study is "racist" too!

in my experience promoting diversity is code for mixing up ethnic groups into one community. my concern about that is that each ethnic group becomes diluted, losing some of it's distinctiveness. I would prefer to have distinct ethnic groups living near each other, visiting each other, enjoying each others differences and cultures. I like my Anglo Saxon background/culture and don't want to see it morphed into something new by mixing it with something else, but I also enjoy other communities and cultures and enjoy what they have to offer.....then go home.

I've been saying all this multicultural nonsense is bad for a long time. All diversity does, is point out and celebrate how different we are! Instead of celebrating and embracing what we have in common, that is our real strength. I hate how if you don't buy into this liberal diversity crap, you're a racist....
Plus I've read, and totally agree with, an article by expert in human behavior, that says: Humans stick to what they know and what is similar to them. That's why you see entire neighborhoods that are made up of certain ethnicities. People of similar race, color, nationality, religion etc. tend to want to be around others like them. He also points out that areas that are too diversified have higher crime rates, have more people that are racist towards others, and have less cultural diversity, since most people stay with their own kind.
This is why I stand firmly against multiculturalism. If you want to come to America, act like Americans. Foreigners need to learn English and accept our Western Christian culture and not infringe upon or speak out against it, or try to make us accomodate them! Also, we have organizations like CAIR and the ACLU trying it's hardest to tear down Western Christian values in this country, yet fighting hard to protect any other culture or religion and trying to grant them special priviledges and rights over us!

i like it, purely approximately continually have. there is purely one thing so exciting approximately them. i like the girls human beings, love their accents. purely one thing so sexy and so previous shaped approximately it. the adult males sound renowned and authoritative, that's incredibly neat. i like the full the Aristocracy ingredient and actors who've been given the call 'sir'. The extra I learn the way british/english society has impacted american society, the extra i'm intrigued by using it. i do no longer think of maximum human beings comprehend purely what number of their values and methods of thinking has impacted our custom. sounds like it ought to be a extra progressed society, yet do no longer quote me on that, with the aid of fact i comprehend purely slightly approximately them. They continually look portrayed in a reliable mild, that's extra effective than what i will say for united statesa. (my united states). Their language seems to be fairly corresponding to ours, different than some words right here and there. i don't get maximum of their humor, it somewhat is somewhat low-key for me, somewhat too conservative for my flavor, even though it is not all undesirable. they seem to have reliable manners and are properly behaved. i would not concepts attempting to stay there if the possibility ever popped up, just to make certain the variations between their cultures and ours. it would in all probability be a neat adventure.

The old saying "Birds of a feather... " turns out to be correct after all... no real surprise to anyone that thinks about it for a while... Diversity did work in the Soviet Union under Stalin... if one disregards the millions that died in the process.... and observed what happened when the "gentle hand" of Communism was removed...

Speaking the truth may not be p.c. but it still remains the truth. This country has always had a double standard when it comes to diversity and racism etc. We send our troops around the world to separate ethnice cultures that can't get along. Yet, in this country the left wing socialist believe we should all live in one happy melting pot. Side by side in joyful bliss. Sorry folks, it just doesn't work that way.

Yes they are just stating facts that have been known for years and ignored! Unbelievable how stupid people will never accept facts! Heres a fact, walk down a downtown street by yourself at night and see how the neighborhood embraces diversity as you run for your life! Just the truth!

I completely agree with Robin Hood. I have friends of all races but I don't want to give up my own culture or see it diluted into something different or to just fade away into mush. Each race has great stuff to offer, but like a bunch of paint, if it is mixed up too much, it loses its beauty.

A interesting study.
Perhaps this bolsters the need of assimilation of people into American society, rather than continuing to separate ourselves via race and culture.
I think 'like-minded' people live in better harmony, race notwithstanding.
That's my take on it, anyhow.

That is a very interesting study. And the reasons are self evident. Oh, but if I expound upon them it will launch another liberal tirade. They like to silence the opposition.
Oh heck, I will say it - !#@%%&**!!!$%%$!!!
