During a visit today by the Iraqi president to Iran, he was told that the only thing that would bring peace to Iraq was a complete pullout by the U.S. Do you think that is true or do you think Iran wants the U.S. out of Iraq so that they can take over?

I think Iran wants the US out so they can take over - and an Iranian takeover, unlike the botched US one, would bring peace. The peace achievable through brutal totalitarian oppression of non-Shiite minorities, but, if all you want is peace, that shouldn't be an issue.

An Iranian takeover of Iraq is one scenario. Maybe the most likely. But its not a foregone conclusion..

As for Dems uniting? I doubt it. Their too invested in defeat. They'd either blame President Bush or characterize the Iranian invasion as a humanitarian effort. I honestly have no faith in the Democratic party anymore.

We need to pull out and let Iraq handle its own affairs .

This we broke it we need to fix it or they will follow us home or every other nation is going to part out Iraq is just that some kind of talking point that is meaningless .

I think it's true. America is doing a lot more harm than good in Iraq. Especially since we're basically running the show.

I think that there will not be oeace as long as 1 US military soldier is there, but I also think we can't leave and if we did Iran would take over, or hostiles and terrorists. It would be a lawless place.

even if we pulled out.. Iran trying to take over Iraq would be a BIG mistake on their part.. because it would unify the dems and cons against the Iranians.. and unleash the full fury of our army.

I say let them sort out their own problems...that's not our part of the world...we pull out to Kuwait, set up shop and observe...we'll still have a presence but we won't be losing our soldiers...the problem is the Bush administration can't justify multi-billion dollar contracts if we are just observers...

Of course they're going to take over. It's a weakened country and prime for the taking, should we pull out.
