These idiots above me think he's still pitching... with Edmonds always injured, Taguchi hitting so lightly, Wilson DOA and Encarnacion never living up to his ability, Ankiel could seriously help the Cards make a push for the wild card. With a bat in the lineup to protect Pujols, he'll see some pitching and it will improve Duncan's stats as well.

It's one of the best position conversions in a while. Looks like he found his groove by stepping up to the plate instead of trying to guide a ball across it. Of course, he's not the first. Fellow named Luke Allen was a converted pitcher. He played a few seasons here in Las Vegas and had a gun of an arm throwing from right field. It will be interesting to see how many batters will not take a wide turn at first after Ankiel fields their single, fearing he will thrown behind them and get them tagged out.

Probably just a reserve outfielder with spot starts. He will get his shot though with the Cardinals sucking this year. I think he is good enough to be a regular bench player in the majors. He reminds me a little of Jonny Gomes of Tampa. Although I think Jonny has the potential to be an everyday contributor. Rick's power numbers are impressive, however his batting average is little to be desired.
And to the guy who said Rick can pitch, those days are OVER! He is done with that. He has no control over his stuff and never regained it.

He won't have that much of an impact. Extra bats are not really what the Cards need right now. What they could really use is some consistent pitchers!

He's going to get playing time because of the hype. Pitcher turned outfielder, yippie! His triple-A numbers looks pretty good, time will tell in the Majors. I hope he does well.

Not too big. He might start a game or two, but he'll mainly be used as a pinch hitter.
