we could see... Fish that do no longer desire oxygen, can tolerate intense ranges of ammonia and so forth? I have been given no longer something? some fish are very hardy and can stay to inform the tale the sort of crap situations for a jointly as, yet in many cases they die. people asking this question are in many cases thinking very small tanks, which basically makes the subjects worse. In a larger tank that's obtainable to biologically filter out the tank with vegetation, yet it is extra technical, and desires extra room than in simple terms including a filter out. So while you're thinking keeping a betta in a properly lit 20gal with a heap of vegetation, then it is obtainable. yet because of the fact the tank receives smaller the filtering turns into extra substantial. Wow people...if you dont know the answer...THAN DON'T ANSWER IT! I would suggest maybe a snail. Or a shrimp. Otherwise, get a filtered tank of at least ten gallons and make a properly stocked community tank. Goldfish are probably the WORST fish for bowls, they get larger than oscars people. If you insist on a bowl, then try some kind of danio, or white cloud minnow, both of these can survive in colder conditions. Just get the largest bowl possible, these are both schooling fish.

Only a Betta, but without a filter, you would need to clean the bowl every 3 days to keep it healthy. For more info about Bettas, check out the link in my profile.

EDIT: Goldfish get almost 2 feet long and will only live a few weeks in a bowl. Nogoldfish4u!

A betta will survive in a bowl, though it will never live as long as it could, and will be forced to float around doing nothing all its life, while in a properly set up tank it would be very active and curious.
A goldfish will survive for a while before it gets stunted and dies young.
For any fish, including a betta, to do well and live a long life, a filtered tank is required with decorations and space that allow them to actually live. While bowls are commonly sold and bought, they are really meant for soup and not fish.

In my opinion these bowls should be forbidden
The only thing that can really survive in there are shrimp or triops
Even a betta is suppose to be in at least a 2.5 gallon tank with filter and heater
As for the goldfish? shame on everybody even mentioning that

A betta is best i believe. Or possibly a goldfish though i wouldnt recommend a bowl as a permanent home for a gold fish as they will grow fairly large, small bowls only retard the growth.
Aslo ensure the bowl isn't too small. Best size for a betta is half a gallon. However if you have a quarter gallon bowl this can work too but you will have to work much harder to maintain good water quality.

ye goldfish are great. but you need a bigger tank...sorry but its true. Nothing could really survive in that size a tank for very long.
i find goldfish pretty boring so i have fancy ones in my unfiltered tank.
check out some of these fish that you can have
http://www.bensfish.wanadoo.co.uk/coldwaterfish.htm
a type it doesnt show you on there is my favorite The Black Moor. You can have these in a tank with other breeds of fancy goldfish and they look pretty neat too.

betta fish, they can live in a very small space and need no filter, just a water change. Remember to not put more than one in a bowl, they are very agressive and on will end up being killed by the other

Yes, a goldfish.
The Common Goldfish is a very hardy animal compared to many types of fish. Trust me, i won a goldfish at a fairground once, 4 years ago. It is still happily living in a plain rounded bowl in my lounge.
However, if you are to use a bowl/tank with no filtration system, you will have to clean out the tank every three days at the least, or the water will become unclean, and de-oxygenated, and your fish will die.
Of course there is the betta, but i myself do prefer the goldfish. Some may not be much to look at, but boy are they hardcore.
