I know this is a niave sounding question, but how do I find out about acting workshops? Specifically in Toronto, but advice from anywhere helps! thanxx

It depends on what you want the workshop to be about. Cold reading, audition techniques, scene study etc....

First thing you might want to do is either hit the local actor's scene or go down to a community theatre and ask some of the actors if they could recommend a place for you to study at. You'll usually find that personal references are the best indicators.

Second option, there is a web-site, http://www.actorworkshops.com/ActingWorkshops.php
That offers classes all over Canada, including Toronto. I've never heard anything about them, but it might be something you could check out to get started.

Use the phone book and call all the acting schools.
