I just found out i'm about 7 weeks pregnant with my first child!! :) my hubby and i are soo excited!

I'm just wondering, from other mothers, what are things i should prepare for during the pregnancy, things i should expect?...

also, what are some baby items you absolutely couldn't live without & would recommend to a first time mommy?:)

anything i definitely need to put on my registry?

sorry this is so long! i just have so many questions & i'm super excited!!!

thanks in advance!!!

Congratulations!

You'll be hungry all the time. For me, it was every 2 hours. Sheesh. That was the hardest part. I loathe eating.

The book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" is very helpful. Each chapter is month by month and tells you how baby's developing, what you can expect at OB visits, symptoms.

It's not easy being pregnant though. It's been a long 9 months for me (I'm at 37 weeks).

As for registry, stay away from clothes in the 0-3 size!! If someone's throwing you a baby shower, guests will bring 0-3 month onesies anyway and you'll have too many and not enough past the 0-3 months size.

If you have money, a co-sleeper is a good idea. It's ~$100 at Babies R Us. It attaches to your bed so you can just roll over and tend to baby. If you have no money, bypass the co-sleeper and get a crib 'cause you'll need it anyway.

Oh, and do your registry during the 2nd trimester! That's when you'll be most comfortable and have the most energy. The first trimester symptoms will be gone and you'll feel pretty normal (except for having to eat every freaking 2 hours). 3rd trimester, you won't want to do anything 'cause you'll be tired.

Have you started taking a prenatal vitamin? My prenatal vitamin doesn't have enough calcium so I take a Tums supplement.

As for eating, eat healthy. Stay away from caffenine (even chocolate) and raw foods. Limit your eating of cooked fish especially salmon 'cause of the mercury content.

Everyone I know has a Graco stroller. You obviously don't have to get that one but if you do, the Graco Quattro style is like an SUV: sturdy but heavy. Try the Graco Metrolite instead. Both my mom friends complained about how heavy their Graco strollers are and recommended that I (I'm at 37 weeks) get a lighter stroller so I got the Metrolite. They complained about how hard it was to lift it into their car 'cause the Quattro was heavy.

Good luck!

Congratulations!!!

I can't speak for everyone or know exactly what might happen, but expect to be tired, I had tons of heart burn and leg cramps. I was really blessed with easy pregnancies. I hope the same for you.

I have a 4 week old and the swing has been a saving grace several times. Also, the ease of a bassinet during the first months, a boppy pillow (especially if you have c-section) (it made me feel better), and the patience and support of hubby, family and friends.

I registered for it all. From diapers, wipes, bottles to stroller, high chair and pack n play.

Again congratulation and GOD bless

well pepare for ur taste in foods 2 change also alot of things u use 2 do such as lifting u can not do which u can forget at times
i would recommend start picking up a few baby clothes and toys and a crib but dont buy 2 much just know if ur planning on finding out the sex wait to do most of ur shopping around then so u know what colours u want (most people find out the gender around 18-22weeks so mainly at the begninng i would look for cribs and bottles but wait until ur 12weeks(out of danger zone)
anyways congratulations and good luck hope ur pregnancy is easy

i know u are excited hun..

but u got to do whats more important at this time.

and the MAIN two things are..
1) praying
2) being healthy

and then u can think about what items to buy.. and what to put on the registry

pray.. because at this time u need Gods blessing the most for your child, for you.. and your family

also start taking your pre-natals.. go to your doctor and see what else you need to do to keep u and ur baby healthy.

and i dont think you should worry about the registry and baby items just yet.. wait a few months..

God bless you

Congrats. First thing you need to know is take it easy, get sleep when you can and eat well. The book What to Expect When Your Expecting was a life saver for me. Onzies, sleepers, and baby bibs where somethings I couldn't live without. Good luck

most women spend their whole pregnancy looking forward to one day, the birthday of their child.

many dont look past that, to the early weeks, the first year, the toddler years.

it helps to prepare for birth, but if you arent prepared past birth, life can get hectic.

thats probably the best advice i ever got.

i love the boppy, which i think is one of the best things ever.
i recommend breastfeeding, as its best for your baby's health and intelligence. and its best for you, too.

as far as registry goes, i find most people just buy clothes (try asking for clothes that are bigger than newborn or 1-3 months) and ignore the registries. maybe that was just my experience.

one thing that i loved, and you will too if you live somewhere where it gets chilly in the wintertime is a bundle me by jj cole. it sits in your stroller or carseat and substitutes for a blanket that can be easily kicked off or fall to the ground.

take your prenatals (they made me sick, but they are so important) and just enjoy :D

congrats. i hope to join the ranks of pregnant in the next couple months :D

first off CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
now get ready for your body changes there will be lots of them tender breasts, morning sickness ....
i recomend the saltine crackers for the morning sickness they work well.
Also even if you are breast feeding keep on hand a bottle and the brush to wash them (you never know if you will need it better to have it on hand)you will need a breast pump.
