I'm in England and I work in an entertainment store. My boss has scheduled me to work 6 days in a row. I don't have a huge problem doing it only I want to make sure it's legal. Obviously there are some jobs where people work hours and days on end without a day off but these are often positions that require extreme, professional attention - 6 days in a row for a sales assistant seems a lot.

From everything I have read, there is nothing preventing you from working even 7 days in a row -- but if you do it regularly, they have to pay you holiday pay for an equivalent amount.

European legislation the working time directive gives limited rights to working hours, if you are over 18 you can work 6 days or more you only need an average of one day off per week remember this is an average over a year so holidays will count toward this also so in theory you only need 52 days off per year including holidays to be legal you do have more rights but not asked about in your question.

Well yea. I mean, isn't there a song by the Beatles, "Eight days a week" that is referring to how much some guy works. So think of it as you are really getting two days off a week. Why you lucky son-of-a-gun. Plus, you guys get free health care coverage over there. You've got it made.
