how is it possible you can get a phd in architecture if you didn't study it. suppose you studied languages. furthermore, will you ever get a job as an architect if you only have a phd in this field. thanx a lot (i know that quality counts in USA, i'm talking about europe though)

I'm not sure how you would get a PhD in a field if you didn't study it. That's like saying that how would you get an MD (Doctor of Medicine) if you studied Italian Opera. It makes no sense.

To hold yourself out as an architect without the training would be both illegal and dangerous. After all, if you designed a large building and it collapsed, you would kill dozens if not hundreds of people.
