factor the "x" terms and the answer is obvious. Two x's minus one "x" leaves a single "x". If this is done eight times, then one has eight x's. Therefore the answer is 8x.
8(2x-x) = 8(x) = 8x

Solve the parentheses first.
2x -x = x
Now we're left with 8*x which is just written as 8x.
