Good idea--what's a few dollars to ensure a proper operating system.....all done at one time --saves the money if you need to take it apart again.

No as long as the thermostat did not stick.The only time you have to repalce the thermostat is if it sticks or messes up in another way.

Have to?....No...Should you?....yes. It's cheap insurance that your system will work properly.
