And do you think your traits stems from the order in which you were born? Like first born are usually Leaders?

I'm the first born of 9.

My husband is the first born of 3.

We're both a bit more ahead of our siblings socially and financially.

It may have to do with our birth order.

I am a middle child. No I don't think my traits stem from the order in which one is born. My sister got to have all the responsibility when she was way too young, and now likes to be taken care. She hates making decisions.

I ended up being the brave one with leadership qualities (though I would prefer not to have the quality of leadership as people can take advantage of you by volunteering you for things you are not interested in).

Good thought to ponder.

I was born second to last. I consider myself a middle child. And middle children have ALWAYS had to work harder to receive recognition or approbation for their accomplishments.

I DO NOT agree that the first born are usually leaders though. I would like to see the studies done that prove this fact. In my experience the first born people are the ones who expect to be treated as royalty, and are not willing to work hard at anything.

They also expect to take up the scepter of their first-born status at every gathering and become the sun that the other siblings revolve around. That is NOT happening as far as I am concerned, ever again...not since I grew up and grew smart anyway.

First born. My mother's only child (girl child). Which makes my brother her only child (boy child) also. I was the one with the responsibilities, the chores, the practice makes perfect parenting for the next one. I did become a leader. I became a Captain in the Department of Corrections when women were not wanted as Officers. I did this by doing 3 times the work, twice as good for half the recognition. But, when I attained my rank everyone knew I earned it. This hopefully opened the doors for other females in the same field.

Only child.

Yes, in general, the traits of birth order are usually born out among most people. But there are always exceptions.

I'm the last born...
And it's weird because my brother (first born) is irresponsible, doesnt like to be the center of attention, cant lead, only tells people what they want to hear, is compulsive, and lies.
The middle child (my other brother) is selfish, anxious, really talkative, doesnt like to be in control but does like to be noticied,
And I'm the youngest but are more outgoing, more of a leader of the group, responsible, caretaker and peacemaker of the family.

I am a second born only child!
(My older sister died when I was 7 yrs old.)
So I am a mixture of second child / only chid.
I am spoiled / sheltered / and can't make up my mind.
I am also an A type personality who overachieves.

I'm last of 8, and I think I'm the smartest 'cause I've learned from everyone else's mistakes without making them myself. by the time they got down to me we were too broke for me to be "spoiled" and I also got the worst treatment from all but 2 of the older ones...
