I know I'm not classed as a youngster anymore - but what is this song all about?!? It was probably the most annoying thing I've ever heard in my whole life. I was in the process of being detoured on my way home because of a car fire and I was desperately waiting to hear the local travel so I could work out which way I could go and this "song" came on with this woman saying "um-brella, rella, aaaa" and I really really wanted to shove one up her ........jumper. Go on - tell me it was that Nelly bloody Fatado woman - betcha

Funnily enough because the detour took me into 2 local radio areas, my signal changed from Gemini Exeter to Gemini Torbay and the same song started all over again. Imagine that! I was lost, bursting for a wee, hungry and running out of fuel and I had to listen to a woman with a rella!!

I feel deeply ashamed to not only get the artist wrong, but to miss the fact that it was number one for so long. Think I need to keep that radio on more!

Almighty 28 - FYI (that's an Americanism, isn't it), I had absolutely no idea which country the song originated from - indeed i thought it was Nelly Furtado who is from the UK. Grow up sweetheart.

LOL!!! This song is by Rihanna and not Nelly BLOODY Furtado! The whole song is metaphorical really about how she will support her love through anything

When the sun shines
We’ll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath
I'mma stick it out 'till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we still have each other
You can stand under my Umbrella

It is annoying!!! But its one of those songs that just sits in your head for ages

"Umbrella" is a song performed by Bajan singer Rihanna. It was written by Terius "The Dream" Nash and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter for Rihanna's third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad.

The song has been phenomenally successful and simultaneously topped the UK (where it topped the chart at number one for ten consecutive weeks, and was Rihanna's first number-one single).

Rihanna. No wonder you were having a cr*p time while you were listening to it, that woman cursed our country's weather for the entire time she was at number one (ten weeks), and as soon as she dropped off the top spot, the sun came out!

Yep I hated it too! How on earth it managed to stay top of the charts for 10 weeks is beyond me. There's been speculation that all the rain is cos of the song! And when it got knocked off the top spot it stopped raining!!! Ha ha ha.

It's by Rhianna and yes it's called umbrella I personally don't like it,but it seems to be played just about everywhere. From what I have come to understand it's about how she loves her partner and the love wont die and although it's raining it won't tear them apart her Umbrella will shed you, keep you warm and protect you.
