Not going to send Roxio $15.00. Will Vista SP1 address this when released presumably in December according to an Intel leak? Anyway around it in the meantime?
Still have my PS2 anyway, but somewhat ticked off about spending cash for a top line computer, and a basic function is an extra charge/hassle. Please no re-installing XP advice and Thanks for any imput!

Yeah there's a way, Windows Media Player, they added a DVD decoder with version 11, which ships standard with all editions of Vista, unless you live in Europe where you have to go to the Microsoft website and download it for free.

Google for "vlc" (Video Lan customer);that's a (loose) DVD participant that frequently "in simple terms works". Or, locate the CDs that got here jointly with your computing gadget; considered one of them probable has all of the DVD participant application needed.

Vista Home Premium has a built in Media Center, that plays DVD's. Unless of course you bought Vista Home Basic, that doesn't play DVD's.

I recommend using VLC media player (it can play anything). Best part is it's free and completely free of spyware. It is also the most popular player out there.

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
