Can anybody tell me, is Vista as full of bugs that will crash your system all the time as I've been hearing? I really need to buy a new computer, but I've been putting it off because I've been hearing all of the horrible things about Vista. I love XP, its worked out great for me, and I thought of downgrading to XP from Vista, but I don't want to if I don't have to. If someone who is knowledgable about computers could fill me in, I would greatly appreciate it. Please don't waste my time with crap answers just to get points.

I was in the same boat as you, scared of what everybody was saying but now I'm happily using Vista with no errors/bugs. If you're buying a brand new premade computer you shouldn't have any problems with the computer itself. The only problems you may run into is that older devices (printers, scanners, etc.) may need to have updated Vista drivers. Check their websites to see if they have an update. By now most stuff work Vista (drivers, software, etc.) or will eventually very soon and those complications you were reading about were probably when Vista first came out.

Hey santiago29134,

DON'T WORRY! Windows Vista is EXCELLENT!

No, Windows Vista is not full of bugs, and no, Windows Vista will not crash your system all the time - in most instances.

I say most* because when it comes to running Windows Vista, there are some very important things to note.

Before I purchased my new computer a few months ago, I bought Vista from a store and installed it on my pre-existing PC. This is where heaps of Vista problems come from!
I had various program and driver compatibility issues, and the reason for this is all computers pre-Vista release (January 31) were designed for Windows XP, and as such are frequently incapable of delivering a stable computing experience for Vista.

I have been using my new PC for several months now, (running Vista of course) and I love it!
Sure, I was sceptical after my previous experience, and was planning to wait for service pack 1. However, service pack 1 is little more than a collection of updates that add some features and may improve some user experience.
It does not mean Windows Vista now, is not safe, reliable, or user-friendly!

We're now in April, and Microsoft has released updates and fixes for Vista that make it stable and reliable. Companies like nVidia and Creative have Vista-Ready drivers out, and computers bought now are optimized for Vista, have compatible software (like iTunes) for Vista and have recommended hardware for Vista (such as 2GB RAM).

In short, Windows Vista is stable, secure, fast and reliable - provided you buy a new PC!

Best wishes,

1. It has some bugs.
2. Bad DRIVERS crash Vista. This is caused by a lack of drivers being available specifically for Vista.
3. It DOES seem slightly slower, but this is true of almost any new operating system. As bugs are fixed, Vista will inevitably speed up.

Vista is a pretty good computer although it has a few bugs, like it can't locate your CD-ROM drive, and then you have to restart it. If you have the right equiptment and you treat it well, then you should have no trouble using it. You should chose a computer with a lot of memory (like an HP one) because it'll run REALLY slow without it. And it should have a dual-core processer. Then the rest is up to you to decide. A mac would hurt, they work really well too.

Yes, Vista is full of bugs. If you don't need to upgrade, i wouldn't recommend it.
