When she's about 16.

A lot of people do it to babies, so that must be safe, with doctors doing this all over. Appropriateness is an individual matter. I won't be taking my daughter to get her ears pierced until she is at least 13. I had to wait and I think that was good. She needs to be responsible enough to take care of her ears (ie twisting earrings with alcohol).

Plus, I want it to be something special to look forward to. A rite of passage, if you will.

Good luck!

Safe??? Now.
What age? Well, when she asks for it and is responsible enough to keep her ears clean. My daughter got hers at 5. I made sure she really wanted it and understood it would hurt. She also had to clean her ears with the solution every night on her own (of course mom supervised). She did and takes very good care of her earring collection to this day.

Good luck.

I think it's safe at any age, just not appropriate. I think a child should be able to decide for themselves if that's what they want or not. It gives them something to look forward to.

When she asks.

It's a permanent body modification- your daughter should be allowed to make that choice when/if she ever wants her ears pierced.

I think around 6 months, that's when my friend got her daughter's ears pierced. The pediatrician wanted my friend to wait till the baby had her first tetanus shot. However, I've seen newborns with pierced ears.

I wanted to get my daughters done when she is 6 months old but her Dad said no. So I guess I have to wait.

That's up to you, but not too young, like between 0 and 4 months, or you could try those magnetic earrings.

Well I had mine done when I turned 10. My mom told me I had to wait untill then so my ear lobes would be developed.

Hope that helps!

When she is old enough to ask. I think there is something perverse about infants with earrings. Dressing her up in frilly clothes is one thing, but she isn't a freaking babydoll.
