Why can't some Liberals accept people for the way they are, instead of what they expect them to be ?
When you answer that question, you will have the answer to your own question.

Everybody has their own idea about what a person should be, and should do. The same thing can be said for all liberals... "Why can't liberals understand that their conservative religious values dictate their ethics, for better or worst.
Understanding both sides is the key to compromise. Both sides need to do a much better job of this.

This message also goes to the poster above named Tink. It answers your question about conservatives too. Liberals are like that because conservatives want to legislate and force your beliefs on the rest of us. It's not that we don't tolerate you, we do, more than anything. It's when you try to legislate your laws based on your religious beliefs on our lives is when you're going to get a whole lot of push back from us. Stop legislating your morals and we'll get along just fine.

That is a good question. Conservatives are so focused on what other people are doing they forget to judge themselves.
I am conservative on some issues like abortion and parenting and keeping children in their place, but i am also for a person's rights. I am far from judgmental and when I find myself judging I back off.

It's called standards and the desire for all to aspire to be better. Of course, if you are a practioner of moral relativism (read: moral vacuum), you use the canard of "accepting" people for who they are as an excuse to ignore stupidity, laziness and lack of personal motivation and responsibility.
At the end of the day, I want everyone to be better and enjoy better lives. But, if they choose not to care, I am fully capable of "accepting" them for what they are: drags on the rest of society.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but it just may be that we as conservative recognize the potential in people, what their capable of. We do not like to see folks wallowing in their misery when it's well within their means...if not yet in their belief...to be better, do better and live the American dream that's available to EVERY American.

I would love an example.
That is just a silly statement.
How do conservatives expect people to be beside law abiding citizens.

I think that goes for all people, not just a political party or a citizen of a certain country, just plain everyone. (Myself included, I want my hubby to "listen" more but he doesn't. He wants me to clean more but I think doing dishes once a day is enough).
What about you?
