It drives me crazy - if they want to do that, they should go out on the soccer pitch with the rest of the divers.
I'd like to see it called and penalized more, but it's a lot to ask of the officials by putting the burden on them to decide the severity of flops.

It's part of the game! Players are getting paid to take the hit and make it look worse than it really was.
People only hate flopping when the flopper isn't on your team.
You love D-Fish, Raja Bell, and Manu when they are on your team, but you despise them when they get one to go against your team.
Look at like an art, kind of like blocking a shot or hand checking in the one location that the officials never catch. Nothing will be done, teams just have to understand which guys flop, which refs will call the flop foul as a charge, which will call it as a block and adjust.

It's part of the game. Every sport has its flaws. They won't do anything about it because it is considered an advantage. Get in the right place at the right time and take the charge. Do what you gotta do within reason to win a game, even if it is downright annoying sometimes.

I do. If it involves a fair amount of acting and throwing ones self to the floor, it should be a foul. There are legitimate charges drawn, but plenty of floppers like Ginobli, Bell, and Varejao.

It's a good thought, but it would never work. It's just too hard to call. While some people do it and it's painfully obvious (cough, Ginobili cough) the degree of a flop is too ambiguous. It's too disputable to be effectively called.

there is no doubt that there should be a penalty for flopping. but in a realistic situation, there is really no way to prove it was a flop. there is really no way to draw a line, therefore it will not work, so therefore it would not happen

That's not a bad idea, but it's very, very subjective, and there would be a lot of complaints by players, so I doubt it would happen.
