It's all about arousing the emotions of rubes.
Of these three, perhaps abortion is a real issue. But oddly, the people who oppose abortion also oppose sex education, so go figure. They seem to think that abstinence works, despite incredible amounts of evidence to the contrary. And by inference, people who disagree are baby killers... an excellent rhetorical device really.
Gay marriage is a massive bugaboo; it suits the republicans to use it, because it implies that all non-republicans are either gay, perverted or both, which makes for great 'wink-wink' rhetoric. You are supposed to not notice all the gay fundies and televangelists...
And evolution? As with climate change or environmentalism, the Republican strategists figure that the important part of their voting base is ignorant and uneducated, believes only in the Bible. Perhaps it is that way. But they can depend on these idiotic fundies to get out the vote, and that's what counts...
This whole part of the Republican base is making America a laughing stock. But the beauty part of the strategy is that if you say this simple truth, it feeds right into their manipulations.
Democrats should never underestimate the cleverness of Republican party rhetoric.

both Democrats and Republicans focus on those issues because they're trying to pick up the Christian voters.
Both parties try to focus on various issues relating to various "groups"... it's all very stereotypical.
With these issues, there are two choices... yes or no. And with only two choices it's easy to choose a side to support.
Unfortunately many candidates choose the option they think people want to support... not necessarily the one they believe in.
Take Mitt Romney, for example... who claims he only voted yes for abortion because at the time he was governing a blue state. He says that he's always been pro-choice but he chose the alternative because that's what he figured the people wanted.
I'd previously considered that a tossoff excuse... but thinking about it again, I'm wondering if that was a smart move.
Considering it shows he was "looking out for the people" by making a decision he claims he didn't believe in...

This isn't just a Republican issue. The issue is the state of American political campaigns and the media deciding what the issues are. These three issues happen to originate in their base of Fundamental Christians and like Democrats pander to Minority issues Republicans Pander to their supporters also. Do these issues affect America today???? Abortion---Maybe , Evolution----who cares unless they can tell me how I am going to evolve, gay marriage other than benefits for who cares????

actually, it could influence us in some way at circumstances. If human beings adequate people who have been gay have been given married and all that, one it would purely seem incorrect (a minimum of to me it would) and a couple of ways are they meant to reproduce? there is often something lacking in that entire technique. happening to abortion, while became into the final time which you heard the toddler being aborted say they wanted to be aborted? The pastor at my church purely approximately became into yet he's happy he wasn't. On right of that, 3 weeks after a woman gets pregnant, there is a few form of a coronary heart beat and interior 9 or 10 weeks after theory, the youngster can sense issues. the two one in each of those practice that (s)he's a individual becoming interior mom. they'd sound like a rapid restoration while your confronted with it after the two willingly having intercourse or being raped, yet they are no longer. no one tells you what you are able to wade by way of emotionally in case you get an abortion. in case you get adequate abortions, finally the girl who have been given them gets to a ingredient the place she won't in any respect even have little ones returned while she somewhat did desire one. in case you do no longer desire a baby, then purely supply the youngster up for adaption. somebody else would be keen to preserve the youngster. Does this answer any of the questions for you?

While I would not call them non issues, they are the ones the debate people keep asking. Most of them would much rather talk other topics. Notice the questions the Dems get asked vs. The GOP Candidates. There is a diference.....

I really don't think they do unless it is in self defense. Most politicians try to stay away from hot button topics if they can. I think the far right and the far left are just radicals that disagree with each other because they can't stand the thought of thinking alike. Think about this. liberals are pro choice, giving the woman the right to kill an unborn child but thinks we do not have the right to use the death penalty. The right thinks abortion is murder but using the death penalty is right. I see the difference between the two obviously, but being supposedly the religious party, what happened to forgive and thou shalt not kill? Makes no sense to me.

I think evolution is established fact, and discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, race or sexual orientation is wrong.
However abortion is an important issue. If murder is illegal, why isn't abortion? I could ask a million questions here that any open minded person might change their opinion, but I won't.
Bring on the thumbs down.

Because currently, the Republican party is run by the religious right, and those issues are important to them. I don't know why Republicans ever let that happen, and basically ruin their party.
They will pay for it in 08, that's for sure.

It is necessary to balance the will of the far left with strong stances against total anarchy and moral deprivation, Dear.
Nothing works as well as a strong correction to the right when it comes to keeping the nation at center. It has always worked this way and always well.
Really simple, actually.
