I'm going to take the conflicting side to some of the things said here....
Maybe it is because we DO think too much that we ask that question. If we didn't think so much, the question would never occur to us, because the answer is so obvious. It would be asking yourself "how many eyes do humans normaly have?" It's not asked because it is so obvious that it is 2. And just like that, the meaning of life is manifest. And then to ask, well....
"He who says does not know. He who knows cannot say" -Lao Tzu
Hehehehe. Even though it is repeated so often, doesn't mean you have to read it lol. Just overlook it and move on. Why stress about the unchangable? Or even better! Laugh or find happiness from it :) Be like water, and yeild.

I don't know, but it is really agitating.
...And you have a point.
People ask it as though there is a certain answer. I think it is different for everyone depending on your religion or views on things. I understand that people want to gather the opinions of others, but honestly, why can't anyone think of a new question that actually intruiges people?
And whoever asks that question is wasting 5 points.

Ignorance...inability to think, to reason.
I doubt there are many active minded people here - probably no one has actually studied epistemology, or metaphysics. They are just 'talking to hear themselves talk'.
A rational, integrated philosophy is the roadmap to a successful life. Lack of one ... well, you can see the results all around you.

i used to wonder what the meaning of life is. what is the point of us all being here? how do we live? why is us being here necessary - is it just all one big joke or are we all simply dreaming it?
Thinking is good i guess but i have come to realise that the world is too incredible for us to try and work out why we are here. I think we should just live life and live it to the full - who cares why we are here?. That question will never be answered so i recommend just living in complete ignorance.
It suits me fine.

I think people are asking, "Why am I here?", and all the variations that grow out from that. Some are probably just looking for stroking that it's OK to want to have a good time in life.

Don't be mad...that is life's core question...one that every human being asks himself at least once in his life time.
And for so long as there is no solid answer for it...you can bet that you'll always find it on these pages....
Just be glad that people at least 'think' every now and then...instead of watching MTV and eating MacDonald's crap! and drinking Starbucks!

Life is a priviledge given to us at birth for the betterment or detrement to other people or things until death, at which time we give back to other people or other things.
