NEVER go swimming with a pad. It will absorb water and won't be able to absorb your blood. (plus it will blow up like a diaper).
Water DOES NOT stop a period. It just washes away the blood.
If you are going swimming, you HAVE to wear tampons. There isn't any other option. You either wear tampons, or you stay out of the water.
Try using the slender or teen tampons. they were made for smaller girls. And get a tampon with a PLASTIC applicator--it will make insertion easier.

I would suggest only to the drug store and getting the smallest tampons they have. O.B. has some without an applicator and you can get some that are almost the size od a pen barrel. I would try these, and take penlty with you, so u can change them every hour or so.I would not swim with a pad. the pad will asorb lots of water and make u feel like you are wearing a diaper. Also where some black shorts over your swim suit. This will help prevent showing leakage if any.

so? im 13. are you saying that i cant wear a tampon because its too tight since im 13? your vagina can stretch. if it couldnt, then there wouldnt be a vagina anymore after child birth. :) tampons are fine. DONT WEAR A PAD. they will fall off, garenteed. and it will be in the water for all of the boys to see. plus, it will get really big from all of the water. try tampax slenders. they are for teens. thats what i used to wear at first. now i wear tampax pearls. they are so comfortable that you cant even feel them, and no one can see a tampon. you would have to wear wings if you wore a pad, and guys and everyone else would see that your wearing a pad. YUCK. just wear a tampon its really not that bad. I WORE A TAMPON ON THE FIRST DAY OF MY FIRST PERIOD. be brave and just do it. you will be glad that you tried. good luck. hope this helps.

I wouldn't wear a pad because then the pad would just absorb all of the water. I'd possible go to walmart or something and get a light tampon. Their really really small and are perfect of light periods. Hope that helps and have fun.

You don't ever want to swim with a pad on. It will get soaked and fall out of your suit. They make small tampons for younger girls and you don't even know you have one in. Once you start wearing them you'll never go back to a pad.

My flow stops when I'm in the water so I think you can go without wearing a tampon or pad unless you have a really heavy flow. I would suggest you not wear a bright colored swimsuit. But if you dont have a dark swimsuit, wear some black shorts.
Good Luck!

although you might not have your period when youre in the water, you'll be in long lines all day. dont risk the chance of using a pad - me and some of my friends have tried it and it donest work. find the smallest tampons you can and just relax. dont get frustrated if it doesnt work the first time.

You can not swin with pads. The pad will get wet in it and leak. Try tampons. They are not that bad. Just make sureyou relax when you put them in, and once they're in, you can't even feel them! :)
