Follow Jock. Because the other alternative is to look at the markings of the soundcard chip (near the terminals where you plug in your speakers) on the motherboard and use those markings to do your Google search. I used to do that before I got Belarc Advisor.

if its plug and play it should be built right into the bios.look at its properties after you ad the hardware to your comp.you can view the device by pulling up your device manager./windows should detect it as soon as you plug it in and turn your comp. back on.Click on its properties-and have windows find the software for you(on your comp. or online.)

You should not have to install it, as the drivers should already be installed and active when you received your computer.

Maybe you have inadvertently disabled the device? You have to go and check your device manager. You may need to re-install the driver if necessary.

Go to http://www.belarc.com and download the 'belarc advisor' run this and it will tell you make and model of everything it detects on your computer!
