I don't think it's a crime, but I wouldn't advise anyone to do it,because quite a few people will often still believe it's the real person and get really taken in.But if the celebrity finds out,the person in question might get into trouble as the celebrity may feel they're identity is being violated or duplicated or something along those lines.
It's kind of like if you copyright some's work you can get into trouble if you understand what I mean.

You have to be really gullible to actually believe that a celebrity would actually be on here, but some people are and it's rude to take advantage. It's not necessarily a crime unless you are using that person's likeness in a slanderous way.

It could possibly be a crime. If the person is posing as someone they are not, the person they are posing as could file a lawsuit as identity thief or impersonation. When it comes to celebrities it's best to just leave'em alone. If your not a celebrity then don't pretend to be one.

Something tells me that the police are more interested in bigger crimes, other than pretending you're Oprah Winfrey on Yahoo Answers.

I don't think it is, but I see where you're coming from. If it got bad enough someone could report them for like identity theft or something. But I don't think it's a crime.

My boyfriend's friend's girlfriend had that happen to her on MySpace and Buzznet. She's not famous but she has ties to famous people. The guy from Buzznet told her she could bring identity theft charges if she wanted to but she just let it go.

Think about it: You lie and say you are Paris Hilton?? Would that be right???? I don't think so. But some people just do it to get attention. And some people do it just for saying......... you're kinda right.
