I am writing an essay for English 1301. I chose to write about why the genre Romantic Comedy films are no longer any good. They all seem silly, I know that, but I am suffering from writers block, and I can't think of three good concrete reasons why they suck. Any suggestions?

Fcuk me! That is truly incredible. Without meaning to be sexist, I never thought I'd hear a female ask such as question. Questions aren't what they used to be in my day. Not all romantic comedies suck. But the ones that do are because they're too predictable or too cheesy. (as everyone else has said)

I don't know, I actually like Romantic Comedies to a point! They get pretty annoying after 30 mins. or so! And some times they are kind of cheesy!

Because it's the same old tired pattern for EVERY single one of them. Here, I'll lay it out for you.
1. Boy likes girl but girl is annoyed by boy.
2. Boy does something creative, girl suddenly likes boy.
3. Boy and girl hook up, then boy does something stupid and they break up.
4. Anxiety Anxiety Anxiety.
5. Boy comes crawling back to girl and they live happily ever after.
6. All real men go running out of theater screaming.

Simply, because they let the viewer down in the end. A lot of them begin funny, but you lose interest becasue the story lines lag.

well, romance is the hardest thing to write, and the makers of these movies try to make it funny so that it is easier, and they always fail and plus romantic comedies are mostly really stupid because they are unrealistic and not funny at all. ;)

They are neither funny or romantic. They use every cliche which prevents them from being funny and the chemistry is rarely there for it to be romantic.
