I had an interview ? that really threw me off. They asked me what kind of animal would I be. I couldn't think of anything. I saw a deer yesterday in an area that usually doesn't have deer, so I said I would be a deer. So what does that say about me?

This question shows more about the interviewer than about you. It is considered a "nonsense" question in the field of human resourses.
Here is a website that actually talks about this stupid question:
http://www.job-interview.net/beforetheinterview.htm
What is the value, if any, of questions like; "If you were an animal in the zoo, what animal would you be?
Zero value. These questions only satisfy an interviewer's need for ego gratification. The biggest problem with a question like this is that it has no "face validity." The candidate has no idea how to answer such a question and these questions smack of amateur psychology.
The answer you gave (a deer) means abolutely nothing about you.
I have found you could simply try to skirt the question with:
"Hmmm, I don't think I would be any kind of animal."
Here is another website about interview questions.

A deer is romantic, graceful and feminine. They remind one of the forest and if anyone spots a deer, it's like, "wow!" (a rare sight!
So they have some mystery also.
A deer is also shy.
When I think of a deer, I think of Bambi, or I think of Krishna playing on His flute and the deer of the forest come running and listen with their big sensitive ears.
Animals and the animals you choose, have a lot to do with psychology. It is a tool in psychological analysis.
In Chinese astrology, they take the characteristics of animals and define the personality of a person.
I, for example, am a rabbit!

deers are usually preceived as prey & weak, i think.....although it could be said that they are cautious & knowing so it might depend on the interviewer's perception of a deer. I probably would have said some sort of large cat because they represent strength to me. What i think is funniest is that you were asked that question at a job interview, should you be asked again you can play off it by asking "why is it a zoo around here?" while you collect your thoughts.

I think that is a weird question to ask during an interview! I don't know what a deer would mean...I would be a dolphin myself...what does that mean I wonder?!!!!!!!!

It says that you're taken off guard by stupid goofy questions.
I would love to know where interviewers come up with this stuff.
