I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee laredo, it runs perfectly, and has been extremely well maintained.... the last two days my brakes feel like they're grinding, not all the time, but sometimes when I hit the break pedal it seriously feels like its grinding.... its hard to describe I know..... please does anybody have any advice ?.. i'm a student and this car is like my brother.... please let me know.... the brakes work, I can drive fast and break hard, no problems....but they just grind sometime.... I will be very grateful for any advice..is this something very very serious ?

Perhaps they are grinding, and your brake pads are worn down to the metal which is now rubbing on the rotor. Check it before it damages the rotors and they have to be resurfaced or replaced, adding to the expense of the repair.

I'm guessing that you probably have a rock stuck in there, try driving the Jeep backwards for a bit, and at the same time apply brakes. this should dislodge it. (when doing this the grinding might seem to get worst first before it gets better)sounds like small problem.

Sounds like you've "shucked a puck"! This is when a brake pad's bonding breaks and the pad gets ripped from it's backing plate(steel). Crawl under with a flashlight and look at the rotors ,inside and out,to make sure they are smooth. Good luck to ya! ;-)=

There is barely any padding left on the brake pads. It means that there is metal to metal contact on the backing plate of the pads and the rotors. You better get them changed soon.

could be the pads or shoes whichever you got some brands do that. or the rotors could have a lip on them i deliver newspapers so i go through brakes like crazy its always been one of those 2 things with me so take a look at that if that isnt it try just cleaning them off really well

ok so while you are driving without brake pads you are also grinding your brake rotors which now have to be turned which now cost more money drive it to the nearest shop and have them fix the thing before you kill yourself

First have them looked at just in case they are worn out but, my 98 Jeep does the same thing and the pads are fine. I have also looked at several other things just in case but everything is ok

Time to get your brakes worked on. If you don't it could cause an accident.
