Heather , I heard that the superstition that refers to the salt is nof old christian originand it's to keep the devil from sneaking up behind you.(he has tacky cologne anyway!)

The umbrella superstition is my favorite. Every time I open an umbrella inside, people freak out, and I laugh at them.
I try to hand it to them, but for some reason, they just don't want to hold it.

Break a mirror= 7 years bad luck. For some reason that one sticks with me. I always worry if I drop a mirror when getting ready. : )

Mine is that I will not pass salt directly to another person. I will place it in front of them. Selma Hayack (sp?) said on the Tonight Show that if you pass salt directly you exchange evil with the other person.

Fear of the number 13 is mine. Like renumbering a building so that it doesn't have a 13th floor officially changes the fact that if you're on the 14th floor, you're on the 13th! That makes me chuckle every time.
