Actually, it only seems so. Due to media coverage and ease of investigation. In centuries gone by, things were far, far worse than today...nobles could rape and steal at will...and you couldn't even say anything about it. The church was as bad or worse...for a gold piece, you could buy advance forgiveness for a murder or torture of someone...and everyone thought it was just their little area that was so bad because there was little or no communication...definitely no newspapers. Something as minor as translating the Bible and printing it so common people could read it without having to go to a priest (and pay in money or in kind) to have questions answered caused major wars and hundreds of thousands of people put to death...

What is different now is we have become educated and accept new standards...we no longer would accept a beating by a government official as his right to do that...or to allow someone else to do that with impunity.

Because that is precisely how you choose to view it!

Taking a look at history may show that there were worse times.

If you were persecuted during the Spanish Inquisition, sent to a concentration camp during WWII, tortured for your religious belief, starved during the Great Depression, etc, you might find that the world today is not as currupt as it was before.

If the world is not as worderful AS YOU MAY WISH IT TO BE, no matter what the calendar says, you would ask that same question.

No sue, its' sort of like sally, my aunt once said, what goes around comes right back around to either curse you in the face or bless you in your own spirit because you were so humble and giving. In other words, we North Americans will be glad to know that there is a {Holy&Blessed} South America to greet us once those "MARTIANS" come from the red skies of doom.

You will find what you look for.

The world is more or less corrupt as it has always been.

If you live in America, you are in one of the least corrupt places.

(Thought we do have many incredibly silly liberal teachers saying otherwise.)

it's called SELFISHNESS... it seems that the world revolves around this theory. everything we do, we expect it to be gratifying for us... and no one else. so that's what happens when a million people are all doing things to only please themselves... it doesn't matter who it hurts at the end as long as it's not you...
