Imagination

Are you refering to like after-images left after looking at bright lights?

Or are you referring to the weird images that seem to appear if you put slight pressure on your closed eyelids?...I see checkerboard patterns when I do that.

After looking at a light and seeing the light when your eyes are closed, it's called Image burn in.

Just pictures when your eyes are closed is called cosed eye hallucination (sp?)

if you are:
Sleeping - dreaming
awake and eyes normally closed - day dreaming
just closing your eyes as hard as you can - checkerboard
after looking in a bright light - random colored circles or blobs
