Corporations are now running America, not your representatives. They are owned by lobbyists, which have doubled to 30 thousand under the Bush administration. If you wonder why nothing is being done for you, and that includes all Americans, its because congress can't fart without asking the corporations first. Over 90% of legislation has been drafted by lobbyists during the Bush Administration, not congress. Any questions?

Nope, that pretty much sums it up. That's why we have the situation at the border, and that's why we have sold the country to China ( who has now threatened to "ruin" the American economy ) if we press them on their badly undervalued economy or their poisonous and to say the least shoddy products, which was a "calculated risk" pushed but the business community and their lobbyists, they conveniently forgot Tiannamen Square, and massive repression of democracy advocates. Even today the software companies and ISP's help the Chinese government suppress info and track dissidents. We have been sold down the river by American business to put extraordinary profits in a few peoples hands and we are about to get handed the bill for their bank accounts.

Not a question but some comments.

I doubt that lobbyists own the corporations. Rather I think that the lobbyists are well paid and influential employees.

The largest lobbying group in the US is the NEA (National Education Association.

You indicated that there are thirty thousand lobbyists and that is double the number under Clinton. Please substantiate those numbers.

There is no doubt in my mind that lobbyists have a major influence in our legislation. They probably helped to convince Congress that the recent tax law changes should favor businesses. Lobbyists do some good too. Lobbyists also attempt to improve safety standards, improve our oversite of medication approval, and provide for more safety features and better gas mileage for our automobile vehicles.

Maybe not a bad idea. If a dept of a corporation doesn't; do its job, it is either aboloshed or management is housecleaned.
