AKA Drive in theatre. We used to put a few people in the trunk and "sneak" them in. Do you remember checking to see who's windows were fogged over? Hot and steamy stuff going on inside the car? Do you remember the film breaking and everyone honking their horns? That silly "snack bar" cartoon they always ran? Then the long line up leaving?

Did you ever forget where you car was? Wandering around trying to find it and keep one eye on the movie? Funny I cant remember any of the movies we went to.

I do remember my date and I sitting on the hood to watch the movie once because the action in the back seat was becoming disturbing and drowning out the movie, and it was embarssing for us, first date, we were both more than a little shy and hadnt even kissed !

Watching a western probably with a porno sound track from the backseat. :-)

I first went to the drive in as a youngster with my parents. I can remember watching what was going on in the cars on either side of our family car. (the kissing I mean) My sister & I just giggled & we watched the cartoon & the movie. I do remember the film breaking & horns honking until the problem was corrected. I couldn't wait for intermission because by that time, I had to use the restroom & couldn't wait to get some goodies to eat. Oh, yah, the long line of cars waiting in line to leave. I went to the drive in when I was dating & it brought back many memories, as I relived my childhood.

We would have to be brain dead not to remember...it was the only movie in my home town...and there was Buck Night (tuesdays). I cannot tell you one thing about any movie I ever saw at a drive in, too busy doing other things, I suppose. BUT you wanted to know the funniest? Well, I had a 3rd or 4th date with the town's most beautiful girl, I suppose she liked me alot, but....to tell you the truth, we were not that suited for each other, and I am sure she was a perfect match for someone else, but for me, I was bored to death. I fell asleep ! I don't remember ever having done that before or after, but that is my funniest moment and I will never forget it...the hottest gal in town and I fell asleep ! I guess that what is hot to one person isn't hot to another, and this is a case where I should have stayed at home after the last date with her...it was of no surprise to me that I would be bored.... it was also a lesson I learned well...regardless of how pretty, how hot, if they bore you, nothing will change that.

Never go to experience the "passion pit" bit, but I do remember if the projectionist messed up, people would honk their horns. That was fun. I love the candies and popcorn encouraging us to "go to the lobby and get ourselves a treat." We use to leave just before the picture ended to avoid the traffic leaving.

The last Drive-In movie I saw was the White Buffalo with Charles Bronson.

Oh yes, also if it was a scarey movie the boys always carried a branch with many leaves for the scariest scene and would sneak up on a car full of girls, stick in a window, then run like ....

My husband and I went to the drive in with his sister and her husband. Sister and her husband went to get popcorn and drinks. We were watching a movie about a camper that had snakes in it. One of the actors opened an overhead cabinet.... just as my brother in law was feeling for the door with one hand and holding the popcorn and drinks with the other)... the snake fell out of the cabinet onto the actors neck... brother in law touched my arm. I screamed and he threw the popcorn and coke everywhere... ( he was watching the movie too so it scared him when i screamed) It is really funny now but back then it scared me to death.
Ok, I have to admit... our car was the one with steamed up windows. What can I say... 33 years later.

I remember all those funny things, too. I remember leaving real fast with a trunk full of toilet paper for later (TPing houses), and taking the speaker with me. Did your drive-in have a playground for the kidddies? We saw Star Wars at the drive-in next to a guy who was hooked up to their speakers to his enormous speakers. We had the sound that night!

My friends and I used to take our kids to the drive in dressed in their jammies and ready to go to bed once we got home. One night we saw 8 falling starts to wish on and for some strange reason there were fire flies the one and only time I ever saw them in Idaho--being from VA I used to see them all the time and that is what they were.
