Wouldn't the rabies take a long time to kill the dog? I'd go for the three legged pit bull!!
Although that would mean in the end the dog wasn't really the winner either...Hmmmm..

My cat attacked a (old) pit bull, who not only came off worse but is now scared to even walk past our house.

The cat. I'm biased and my cats have terrorised a whole estate of dogs. One unfortunate labrador had got into my garden and I had to rescue it from Beauty (advancing from the right) and Jet (bringing up the rear). I had to laugh despite the poor beast's screams of terror.
Another time I saw a medium sized dog walking up the lane, it saw Jet walking alongside me and promptly performed a u-turn

In the end, both would probably die, but the cat from the fight itself and the dog from the rabis later.

Neither. The cat will infect the dog.
The cat will die anyway and so will the dog.
