A form of government that was a response to workers strife in 19th century Europe. In its ideal state, which will never happen, the government own all but the people run the government. In theory wit takes from the rich and gives to the poor. It's fatal flaw is that one well liked leader could take control of the government Eg- Castro, Stalin, Mao
These rulers are not Communist but represent it's fatal flaw and prove it cannot work.

A socialist that believes the state should run every aspect of one's life. The government knows best.
True communism is everyone being equal with no government. Unfortunately, It has never been achieved. The last step before communism is socialism where power is in the hands of a few elite(heads of state). Due to human nature( not wanting to let go of absolute power once it is achieved), it never reaches the ideal of the communist utopia and ends up as another totalitarian regime.

Communism is a form of government which is based upon public ownership of the means and manner of production. This includes all property, real and personal. The ultimate goal of communism is stated to be elimination of the state in favor of a utopian society where individuals no longer need the restraints of government in order to survive.

That is from my memory from college (a long time ago LOL) stated as objectively as I can. If others disagree, I am willing to see other definitions.

You might want to check out Karl Marx, Joe Stalin, Trotsky, Chairman Mao, and Hillary Clinton. Basically it is a dictator who wants to take 'things' from people who produce to give to people who don't.
