How can we apply the gandhian philosophy in our daily lives? I feel that this philosophy is very close to the teachings of Jesus. Anytime that I have a problem I ask myself one question and that is, "What would Jesus do?" and I usually get the answer right away.
We all study different religions, well most of us do. I feel that most of them come down to being good not bad, doing right by others not wrong, giving not taking, loving not hating and so on. Just plain being and doing the right thing that makes us feel like we are pleasing a higher power.

First Read about Gandhiji , who is known as bapu... His autobiography my experiments with truth.. says lot about him... he was honest.. but also very will powered man..

Gandhian philosophy worked in the context of British rule to be overthrown from India.. it was a means to achieve the end..

Gandhian philosophy has so far not become way of life.. and will not become.. to society as a whole.. some few man may try with great difficulty to adopt gandhian way..

His first principle was to spin wheel,
This was not encouraging technology.. and there are many such principles which go against the modern day man..

His own son went against him and become a Muslim , whose life ispired Anil Kapoor to produce a movie...

Nobody can follow Gandhian philosophy and we are all human beings, he is Mahatma . Please do not try to compare with him to anybody and you and I can not see a Gandhian in our life. You can only read in the magazines and words but in the real li. Yours VRVRAO

Gandhian philosophy or any other philosopy must be made contemporary to this very age because the situation was different then and now it is different. The gist must be understood and see wether it will fit now without any pre concieved notions .Then a neo gandhi philosopy is born without distortion the root in gandhi and ourselves in the branch of the same tree. Now the gandhian philosopy is used to escape rather to participate.

Indian economy is growing at great pace. It was on snail pace for a long period because of Gandhian economics. Why you need more on gandhian thoughts and philosophy. If Gandhi is now alive, we will be using only BLACK SLATES rather than COMPUTER SLATE.

Personal Philosophy: If people want to do something, they'll do it even if you support them. Best not to get in the way with people trying to do a good thing. That said, Philosophy works great if you know the context, if the context were not available i would certainly be forced to create a more vague answer than that. Such as that philosophy can be found everywhere in our daily lives.

I couldn't finalise sometimes that Gandhi was brave or coward.
He helped British in WW II when we were suppose to fight them,
He was in support of self governing and later came this sampoorn swaraj when Bhagat Singh said we need total Independence.
What made him to support Khilafat Movement
And some times he sole handedly fought these British and gave Indians discipline to fight for freedom, Satyagraha, Non violence.

Some of his Philosophies are really tough to apply in our daily life because he knew who is his enemy was but we have to fight our own people for every small work.

To make it simple I would say
1. If one don't waste his and others time
2. Work for the country but not for the self (Mainly the Govt employees)
3. We are Secular that doesn't mean we don't love our religion, revise our traditions and old books like vedic mathematics etc
4. The Congress party must be banned (that was his wish after Independence)
5. Try to be polite with all and love all
6. Try to avoid the false statements or lying
7. Pay Taxes
8. At least try to educate 1 person in your life
9. Be good but never surrender to greediness
10. Be the change what you wanted to see in the world

We could use peaceful resistance to the evil which surrounds us.

One of my friends has described me at times as "gently belligerent," when I am firm yet loving in opposing ignorance and hatred. My grandfather was a follower of Ghandi. He applied the philosophy to resist the PRI and others' attempts to create a Marxist state in Mexico in the wake of the Revolution.

For this, some of the "powers that be" made my grandfather a target for assassination. The police also detained my mother and one of her sisters. Yet my grandfather was not only able to free them from illegal detention, but he escaped from Guadalajara with the Archbishop and one other man.

My grandfather had used the techniques of Ghandi to oppose the efforts of the state, using the military and the police and bureaucracy, to squash religious and philosophical freedom. Once, when the soldiers in La Barca tried to close a church, my grandfather and others got all the families of the community to be there before, in and around the church, so the soldiers and police gave up the attempt.

Me llamo Juan Pedro el hijo de Maria Teresa la hija mayor del licenciado Don Jorge Padilla Santoscoy. My grandfather was one of the founders of the Partido de Accion Nacional or PAN. He was also a cristero, or "One who follows Christ."

So to sum up my response to your question, you can apply the philosophy of Gandhi to resist any evil including a brutal power, whether that be a state or the mafia or an entire military.

“IF THE mad race for armaments continues, it is bound to result in a slaughter such as has never occurred in history. If there is a victor left the very victory will be a living death for the nation that emerges victorious.” That forecast made in 1938 by Mohandas Gandhi actually looked far beyond his time.

Previously, in 1931, Gandhi had told a British viceroy: “When your country and mine shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this Sermon on the Mount, we shall have solved the problems not only of our countries but those of the whole world.” As the Hindu sage indicated, Jesus’ sermon points the way to lasting peace.

If you are really serious, there is only one philosophy that should be applied to our daily lives. That philosophy is known as the ' Divine Philosophy'. Gandhi was after all a mortal like any of us.

We can appreciate him for his simplicity and dedicatedness but that will not give us an edge on philosophy.
