Israel is an important ally in the Middle East, one of the very few we have there. There is a large Jewish population in America and in countries allied with us who have interests in Israel. We have an economic partnership with Israel in terms of military armaments, commercial products and many other ways. Those who are anti semetic, whether they admit it or not, will call support for Israel zionism but is it really? Israel is a small country surrounded by enemies. She is our friend and ally. To not support Israel would only advance the cause of those who would wipe Judiaism and Christianity off the face of the earth.

The pro Israel political groups in the US control a great deal of money, so the candidate that can sway them the most gets the most contributions. Everything right now in the campaigns is to get money, don't expect the common man issues to be in the forefront until the war chests are full and they want the votes.

I wasn't aware that it was a competition.
Can you find various candidates giving vocal support of Israel? Yes you can, and that is not that unusual and quite normal.
Can you give me evidence that they are "competing with each other to see who is the MOST supportive"? No, you can't.

because the vast majority of Americans (both on the left and right) support Israel's right to exist and close US-Israel relations.
It is not in a politicians best interest to go against most of is constituency. As such they support the same things the public dose.
