D = r*t
r = 52 mph
t = 1 3/4 h
Since the units agree (m/h & h), substitute the values into the formula.
D = (52 m/h)(7/4 h) = 13(7)mi

91 miles. 1st hour you go 52 miles (obviously). To find out how far you travel for the 3/4 of an hour, you divide 52 by 4 because there are 4 quarters (1/4, 2/4 or 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 or 1). 52 divided by 4 equals 13. In other words, when you travel at 52 miles per hour, you go 13 miles every 1/4 of an hour.

So driving for 1 1/4 hour would be 52 + 13, for 1 1/2 hour would be 52 + 13 + 13, and for 1 3/4 hour 52 + 13 + 13 + 13, which equals 91.

52 miles the first hour
3/4 x 52 = 39 miles (52 divided by 4 =13; 13 x 3 = 39)
52 + 39 = 91 miles

This is just unit conversion. You want to multiply or divide so that hours will cancel out and you will be left with miles. In this case, 52 mi/h times 1 3/4 h = 91 mi (because the "h" unit cancels out). See the website listed as my source for more...
