In other words, someone that you went to see, expecting them to be really bad, but you ended up loving them (or, expected to love, and were disappointed).

I saw the Go-Go's in 1994 in San Diego, at one of those Christmas pacakge shows put on by a local station there. I expected their show to be a laugher. The tore the place up, and the crowd loved them. I even bought their greatest hits CD the next day.

OMG, deffinately when i saw 18 visions and red jumpsuit apparatus

I went with my cousin and we are like ok we'll go to the front after this random band (18 visions). They rocked the f*** out! they had the whole room pushing throwing or moshing.

And then i figured RJA would be a bit more calm and relaxed liek their cd but it turned into a screamo remix of the cd. It was amazing though. I guess they realized the whole audience (in a standing room only) was going to throw and mosh so they revamped it a lil.

amazing and rediculous but i loved it.

Lifehouse. Never liked their early singles, but when I went to see them in concert with my girlfriend, they put on a great show with a long set and even did covers of Elvis Costello and David Bowie. Besides having a good set, they actually sounded excellent musically and singing-wise. Definitely the best-performing live act I've ever seen.

Honestly, it was the first one I ever saw - the Spin Doctors, when they were here at a local college. I was in high school and had a friend beg me to go with her. I didn't know anything but their one single at the time, so I wasn't expecting anything great.

They played for over 2.5 hours and were amazing. I think that's what hooked me to the live experience.

I saw Daughtry live earlier this summer and I was expecting Chris to sound really bad, since I had heard him sing as entertainment on TV at a NASCAR race, prior to the concert. I was expecting the worst, but it turns out he was amazing, really funny, and just put on a great show for everyone.
Not to mention really hot. ;-)

Outkast.

I saw them about 4 years ago at a music festival. I had always thought they were pretty good, but wasn't a giant fan or anything.

It was close to 100 degrees the day I saw them. I mean, blistering, sweltering, HOT. They took that stage like they'd been shot out of a cannon, and gave 300% to their performance -- non stop the entire set.

No lip-synching. No "backup tracks." They were just ON, and they completely blew me away. By the time they bounced (literally bounced!) their way off the stage, not a single person was standing still. They were UNBELIEVABLE!

I took my wife to see Cher a few years ago on her farewell tour.....expecting to be bored to death.

Turns out, Cher can rock the house....even at the the age of 57

Or 570.....not really sure how old she is these days......

Either way.....she is a true diva in my eyes
