Yea, I know you dont check antifreeze when your engines hot.My question is, it is 107 degrees outside- is it safe to open? Wouldnt the antifreeze be hot then as well?

as long as the sytem has no pressure it is fine. if you can squeeze the radiator hose it is safe to open up.ambete air temperature has nothing to do with checking coolant. the main thing is that there is no pressure that will cause it to spray when you remove the cap.

We are talking about the engine being hot. The engine will run about 190 degrees and the coolant is pretty hot. Big difference between the two figures. As long as the engine has been sitting for an hour or more, it should be cool enough to look at.

A lot of the time you can just look at the coolant overflow tank and it will have markings on the side that let you know if it is full or not.

when your engine is cold it is safe to check your antifreeze no matter how hot it is outside.if your engine is hot,the coolant might be upwards of 180 degrees and under pressure . that is when you dont open it. when your car sat for a few hours you can open it becuase it has cooled down enough not to blow in your face .107 is a safe temp.

The best way to know is to squeeze the hose connected directly to the radiator. If you can't push either side together than you need to wait and let it cool down. Also if the hose feels hot that also should tell you not to open it.
