I am from Minnesota and I am sure you have heard about the bridge collapse in Minneapolis. Anyway they said some of the people who could walk away from their cars went to help others to safety. I think I would try to help if I was ok and in a situation like this would you?

If I was in the condition to be able to help someone I would. I would hope that if I was in the same predicament, they would help me.

If I was able to help I would definitely. I can't say that I would put my life at risk however because I do have 5 children also. I could not just walk away however.

I can't not help but comment on what the young lady above said about helping the old woman and getting a dirty look. We should not help people because we want gratification we should help them because it is the right thing to do and in the same situation you would want help if you were stuck in a situation needing it.

Most people would help after they found out they were O.K. and, that's understandable. My son-in-law is the supervisor in charge of that construction crew on the bridge. He was back and forth across it all day and, he just came back from a trip. One of his men is still missing. All his men, without asking, went into a rescue mode and started helping people, sometimes teaming up to aide as many as they could.

Anyone that ran away is a coward. I would help if I could, if not I woud atleast stay and try to comfort people, telling them that help is on the way.

I guess with the answer above me I should point out that I am a Canadian.....and that is what he do, help people.

defiantly yes!!!! of course!!! first of all I was a volunteer in the "magen David adom" which is like 911 in US so I know first aid but even if I didn't just to calm people while help is on its way!!!
I can't imagine a person who can just look and not help in this situation!! it's inhuman

Yes.

How do I know?

I have been in three major disasters (two Cat. 5 hurricanes plus the 2004 tsunami), and I helped people in all three incidents.

"But for the grace of God we all go" is my motto.

Sadly no, i wouldn't help. People in this country are too sue-happy and while there is a good samaritan law, it doesn't prevent you from being sued.

The last person i helped, a lady who slipped on ice, brushed me off with a dirty look. So i'm not too willing to jump in and help any more.

Sad that i feel this way, but it's what our country is coming too!
