I broke my right thumb 3 weeks ago in the state fastpitch tournament and I am staring Fall Fastpitch this week. We had one practice already, and I sucked. I could barely throw or hit. We have practice again tonight, and I really need to do well. Is there anything that I can do to get back to playing like I did before I got injured.

You really have to take it easy with that injury. It typically takes about 6 weeks for a broken thumb to heal, and there's no way you should be putting stress on it by throwing a ball or swinging a bat.

I know it's probably frustrating, but believe me when I say that it's worth it to wait. I had rotator cuff surgery, and it took me about six months to recover (not that I was a great athlete to begin with!). In the end, being patient and going easy on it will pay off.

Well playing isn't going to help it heal. Thats why players take time off when injured. You need to give it some time.
